You have a gap on your cv here.
Can you tell me more about it?
I went back to university to study because I knew I was lacking key qualifications I needed to achieve my career goals. My time studying allowed me to deepen my knowledge of the field, and I’m keen to apply what I’ve learned in this position. I’m well versed in the latest research and best practices, so I can bring fresh ideas to the table.
I had to take some time away from work due to a period of illness. I’ve since made a full recovery, and I’m excited to get involved with the industry again rather than reading about it from a distance! I know I can make a major contribution to the company in this role, and I’ve really missed having this responsibility and influence.
I took a year out to travel, immerse myself in different cultures and volunteer abroad. The perspective I gained from this trip helped me narrow down my life goals, and I’m now strongly focussed on taking the next step in my career. I believe the cultural awareness and organisational skill I’ve gained from my trip will also help me succeed in this particular role.
Unfortunately, due to a series of budget cuts, I was made redundant from my previous role. However, I used my time off work to further my own professional development (as you’ll see from the certificate I gained!). I’ve always dreamt of a role with this company, and my performance record in my past role shows I’m equipped to deliver results.
I was providing round-the-clock care for a terminally ill family member. I was very fortunate to have the resilience and organisational skill to take on that role. I’m ready to return to the workforce, and I want to apply my dedication to an organisation I believe in, so I’d be thrilled to join your team.
